My vote hinges on what is happening with transit in the city and the environment.
Today, I'd like to inquire about transit as it affects the environment when it's managed poorly and underfunded.
In Toronto, the transit system is antiquated and falling apart.
The city is moving more toward streetcars and the existing streetcars are falling apart; they should have been replaced 15 to 20 years ago.
This is in addition to the violence that is totally out of control and the rising price of transit and the lowering of services delivered.
It's the responsibility of the federal and provincial governments to fund transit in Toronto, and the ignoring of transit needs to be stopped.
The only way mobility and gridlock in this city will improve is through a massive investment in transit, particularly in building more subways and streetcar lines and in providing ongoing maintenance and operations budgets. Which federal party will do something about the decline of the TTC?
I would like to hear the federal parties' answers on transit in Toronto and their perspective on the environment before I vote.
