A North York senior struck by a car while jaywalking Thursday has died.
The 86-year-old was trying to cross seven lanes of traffic on Yonge Street north of Finch Avenue when a northbound Infiniti hit her around 10:45 a.m.
The victim, who was walking to the west side of the street, suffered head and leg injuries and was taken to hospital where she died.
The senior lived close to the accident scene and was walking home when she was struck.
Police didn't release her name at the family's request.
Yonge was closed between Finch and Cummer avenues for about four hours as police investigated.
Witnesses to the collision are asked to call the traffic services unit at 416-808-1900.
