The 20th annual Beaches International Jazz Festival continues this weekend with the always-popular Streetfest and Kew Gardens performances July 26 and 27.
Starting Thursday, July 24 until Sunday, July 27, Queen Street East from Woodbine to Beech avenues will be closed to vehicular traffic from 6 p.m. to midnight daily for the festivities.
This year's festival will also include a new event, the Beaches Jazz Fun Run and Walk, which takes place Sunday, July 27 at 8:30 a.m. at the foot of Kew Gardens. Proceeds from this event will be directed toward the Beach Rotary Club to help the local groups and projects it supports.
The 10-day event kicked off July 18 with a new weekend of programming at Woodbine Park. The diverse range of musical acts on three stages highlighted the talent of young and upcoming musicians.
Once again, proceeds from this year's festival will be donated to the Toronto East General Hospital Foundation's capital campaign, which aims to raise $55 million in private support. The east-end facility is currently in the midst of fundraising for a $200 million renovation and expansion project.
