I tip my hat to Ward 37 (Scarborough Centre) Councillor Michael Thompson for taking a stand (along with several other councillors) against the mayor seeking the authority to hire and fire city managers and the right to vote on policy and strategy with his executive committee in private.

I am strongly opposed to this.

Where is the democracy? This is not reading like a democratic society. I don't care who is mayor, no one should have those powers.

I want my voice to be heard via my councillor. I want an open and transparent government, not one that goes on behind closed doors.
